Barbara Faulkner Davidson, 98, a long-time resident of Orange Park, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 11, 2024. She was born in Jacksonville, FL to the late James Hilton Faulkner II and Myra Adaline (Planert) Faulkner. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and served a number of terms on the Church Parish Council and Stewardship Committee and was an integral part of the Church’s activities and ministries along with her husband, George.
She dearly loved the Town of Orange Park and was a member of the Historical Society. She spent many hours working for the betterment of the town and its residents by serving until her death on the Orange Park Police Pension Board. In years past, she had also served on the Code Enforcement Board, the Environment and Quality Board, the Planning and Zoning Committee, and the General Government Committee.
In appreciation, the Town Council presented her with the Key to the Town along with a Proclamation naming her as an Honorary Town Council Member on March 24, 2015. Barbara was employed by the Naval Air Station for 49 years, retiring in 1991 as the Housing Director. Upon her retirement, she and George enjoyed many years of travel both home and abroad.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Naval LTC George H. Davidson; brothers James Hilton Faulkner III and Harry P. Faulkner; and her sisters, Betty Sue Guzman and Beverly Tyrrell. She is survived by her loving nieces, Barbara Evans Davidson of Louisiana, Carolyn Carver, Kathy Tedder, Harriet Duncan and Christie Allen, all of Starke, along with Debra Broome of Hampton and Cindy Tyrrell of Hawthorne; and nephews Mike Powers of Colorado, Harry Faulkner of Fleming Island, James (Butch) Faulkner of Merritt Island, and Kevin Tyrrell of Jacksonville, along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, 1649 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida, at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, with Father Edward Rooney as Celebrant.
