Charlane Louise Hayward, beloved daughter of Charles and Esther (Crittenden) Powers, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, at the age of 79. A lifelong Floridian, Charlane settled in Orange Park in the early 1980s with her devoted husband of 45 years, William Hayward, where they built a warm and loving home together. Charlane graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, Class of 1965, where she was an active member of the chorus and dance troupe. The caption under Charlane’s senior class picture read, “A friendly heart receives its due, and many are true friends to you.” Charlane lived by this motto throughout her life. Her love for creativity and performance was reflected in her passion for arts and crafts and her joy in gardening. She built a dedicated career with McGiffin Shipping and Sanchez Petroleum Supplies, later retiring from Blue Cross Blue Shield. Her work ethic, generosity, and kind spirit touched everyone she met. Charlane was a devoted mother to Troy and Tracy Robison, cherished grandmother to Whitney, Jordan, Austin, Peyton, Avery, Corey, Bryce, and Gracie, and proud great-grandmother to Aliyah and Colton. A woman of faith and compassion, Charlane was a steadfast supporter of Joyce Meyer Ministries, St. Joseph’s Indian School of the Lakota Children, and the Police Retirement Fund. She found great comfort and inspiration in her favorite Bible passages—Psalm 35–37, Proverbs 13–16, and Romans 8. Charlane also had a lifelong fascination with the English royal family, with whom she enjoyed regular correspondence—a testament to her curiosity and grace. She will be remembered for her warm heart, creative spirit, and unwavering faith.
