Wow, I'm at a loss for words. We met in 2012, had some fun dates and then lost touch with each other. I'm shocked to hear of your passing and to hear about it 2 years after the fact. Rest in Peace, Scotty.

Scotty I didn't get to know you for long...but the short time I did know you and got to spend with you was always interesting to say the least!!! You are an amazing man and were so much fun to be around. It was always nothing but laughs when all of us would hang out!! Fort benning was definitely more fun to be on whenever you were around that's for sure!!! You may be gone but you are never forgotten my friend!!! And you are dearly missed but I know you are looking down and watching over all of us who care about you <3

I miss you so much Scotty and all though things may not have turned out how we wanted them God has a plan and purpose for everything! I love you and I wish I could hear your voice just one more time you were always there for me! I carry you in my heart forever and always!

My sweet sweet Scotty how I remember your little giggle squil when you laughed as a baby and even as a young man. You always put everyone's needs in front of your own. I also remember how you always said that you were God's child when you were growing up and how there should be more Scotty's like you, well you were right! You are an angel!! Scott always was such a nice young man.  I had the pleasure of watching him all through his high school years.  I worked in the cafeteria at Ridgeview and he came through my line all the time and we would talk everyday about his school or something else.  I remember when he was getting ready to graduate and I asked him what he was going to do and he proudly said he was joining the army.  God bless you Scott. Rest in peace sweetheart.

When I heard the news, about his ailmentsI was in shock and disbelief.  When I heard about his passing, I fell numb all over. It was hard to believe that a person so full of life & energy was taken from the world. Although the pain & suffering is over for him, our hearts are mourning the loss of this amazing person. I wish I had gotten to hear you chuckle one last time...to the family, my prayers & condolences are with you all. May God keep you close & mitigate the tears and sorrow...

Newsom always had a way of bringing a smile to everyone's face. He was a person who was always positive and I never saw anything get him down. He was a person with an outlook on life that I truly envy. It was an honor to lead and serve with him. Newsom, brother, you will be missed.

Scotty was a great friend to everyone he met. He left no out. Scotty will always be remembered.

Newsom was one of my bike patrol officers while at Fort Benning, I'll never forget how happy he was when he completed that course and joined the team. Newsom was such a special guy, he was a diamond in the rough when it came to soldiers. A quiet kid who could light up the room once you got to know him. He had such a positive attitude about everything and always did the right thing not matter the situation. From a leaders perspective I wish I could have had a hundred Newsoms...in reality being able to lead just him was honor enough. I will miss you tremendously brother, I am proud to have lead you and to have served with you.

I remember the first time I met Scotty I thought this guys a little strange but at the same time a lot like me. He always found a way to make me smile and I knew I could always count in him he helped me so many times with so many different things. He was kinda like the big brother I never had. It's hard to believe your gona Scotty seems like just yesterday me you and Conrad were sitting in your room on base. It hit me hard because there were so many times I wanted to message you but I always found myself busy. Now I regret not stopping for 2 seconds to send you a message. Spc Newsome was an outstanding soldier, full of life and energy, he will be truly missed among his fellow Traffic Investigators at Ft Benning Military police Station. Scotty you may be gone but never forgotten and to his family our prayer remain with you all.

I remember working with Scotty at Winn Dixie. Such a sweet guy he was. So sorry to hear of his passing, he will be missed.
