Claudia worked for CSX Railroad for 37 years as a rail clerk, a position mainly reserved for men at that time. She excelled in her career, never complaining and meeting each day as a challenge to improve her skills and work performance. In 1989, CSX offered Claudia the opportunity to transfer to Florida, which she was delighted to accept. Making Florida her home, surrounded by sunshine and close to the ocean, gave her a community she truly loved. Claudia was strong in both character and personality.
She lived a life filled with warmth, faith, and joy. Her radiant smile and sparkling blue eyes left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Many who knew her will remember her as kind, fun-loving, and deeply caring.
As a young girl, Claudia had a pony and often reminisced about the happiness they shared together. Her passion for horses remained strong throughout her life, and her extensive knowledge of them was a source of pride and comfort. In moments of reflection, she found peace imagining herself caring for horses in heaven, a thought that brought her great solace.
Claudia had a spirited side, especially when it came to games. Whether playing Yahtzee, Chicken Foot, or cards, she approached each match with fierce competitiveness and good humor. Even in the final days of her life, when her memory would sometimes falter, she continued to win games with remarkable skill and determination.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Claudia loved the Lord with all her heart and mind and served Him by loving others deeply and sincerely. Through her church community, she formed many enduring friendships that enriched her life and affirmed her belief that God was always watching over her.
Claudia is preceded in death by her granddaughter Rachael Mitter.
Claudia is survived by her daughter, Joyce Gail Troike (Craig); her grandson, Guy Mitter (Whitney); and her great-grandchildren, Heather, Glendon, Ivy, Luna, and Isla. She is also survived by her brother, Bill McGee (Joyce), and many beloved nieces and nephews. Claudia will be deeply missed by her longtime companion, friend, and caregiver, Leisa Ashline.
