Deanna Boggs Lewis, 68, of Jacksonville, Florida went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 22, 2018 following a struggle with brain cancer. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Richard Harlow Lewis. Deanna was the daughter of the late Mr. Frank Dean Boggs and Mrs. Elma Haller Cranford Boggs. She was the daughter in law of the late Dr. & Mrs. Charles William Lewis, Jr. Her family settled in Jacksonville in the late 1800s.
Deanna graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1968. She was a member of the National Honor Society and president of the Senior Girls. Deanna graduated with honors from the University of Florida with a B.A. in History. Deanna was a member of the 1970-71 Debutante Coterie. Upon graduation from college, she became a teacher of American History at Episcopal High School. She married Dick Lewis on May 14, 1976. Her calling was as a wife and mother to her two children, Dr. Richard Harlow Lewis, Jr. (Renee Kent) and SaraGrace Dean Lewis.
Deanna’s passion was the study of the gospel and sharing its transforming power of the love of Christ for over 24 years by leading Precepts Ministries. She was also passionate about our forgotten American Christian legacy. Her volunteer positions included being a member of the Junior League of Jacksonville, an Awana leader, founding board member of K-Life, president of Women for Christ, patriotic services chair for the National Society of Colonial Dames, parent prayer team for Riverside Presbyterian Day School and Episcopal High School, Christian Family Chapel Sunday school teacher, and secretary of the Alyssum Garden Circle.
Deanna is survived by her husband and children; a sister, Charlene B. Hughes (Vic) and their two children; her brother-in-laws, Chuck Lewis (Sandra) and their two children, Art Lewis (George) and their four children, and Alan Lewis (Lisa) and their three children. She was affectionately known as Aunt Deezie. She is also survived by her cousins; Andrea Thiem Raitt (Marc), Fran Thiem Hickinbotham (Mark), Linda McClure Khan, Dean Boggs Bunch (Martha) and Franklin (Joyce); her loving and caring nurses, Curlette, Janet, Frieda, Lorna, Darlene and Debbie.
Interment to be held at Evergreen Cemetery (Gate 5) at 9:30AM on Saturday, May 26th. Memorial service to be held at St. John’s Presbyterian Church (4275 Herschel Street) at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 26th. Arrangements by HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVEREMEAD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Precept Ministries International, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, World Medical Mission - Samaritan’s Purse, and Friends of Jacksonville Animals, Inc.
