On Saturday, April 17, 2021, Donald Daniel Fletcher Jr., loving family man and friend, passed away at the age of 58. He made sure he left this world in time to make it out on the water before the sun came up.
“Donnie” was born February 6, 1963 in Jacksonville, Florida to Donald and Dolores (Martinez) Fletcher. He graduated from Orange Park High School and set out into the world to build, hunt, and fish. In 1988, he met his soulmate, Rae Boyer. Together they raised two children, Shad and Heather.
Donnie embodied what it means to live without regret and to do and share the things he loved. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who always managed to catch the biggest fish or shoot the biggest or most of whatever he was hunting. He loved watching NASCAR and “raised hell and praised Dale”. On the weekends, if he wasn’t on the water or in the woods, he was surrounded by friends, family, and his beloved dogs, camping, grilling, or having low country boils. Somewhere in between he also tended to his garden, where he only grew the best and most vegetables of anyone on the street. Donnie was tenacious, demanding, loyal, and unequivocally southern.
Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Donald, and daughter-in-law, Andrea Boyer. He is survived by his soulmate, Rae Boyer, his children, Shad Boyer (Toni) and Heather Rich (Anthony), and his grandchildren Jack and Journey Boyer. He also leaves behind his mother, Dolores Fletcher, two sisters, Denise Fletcher (Rita) and Dianne Corrado (Tony), and two brothers, Mike Fletcher (Colleen) and Rick Fletcher (Kellie). He will be greatly missed by his many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, Florida 32073. His family will be accepting friends at 3:00 pm with services and reception to follow at 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s name can also be made to the St. Vincent’s Foundation, for without their assistance and help, his time with us would have been shorter. Givestvincents.org
