

Edgar "Ray" Jarrell, age 93, of Green Cove Springs passed away on July 24, 2026 leaving behind a lifetime of treasured memories. He was born on January 9, 1933, in Langley, Kentucky, to the late Clettus (Hays) and Ray Jarrell.
Ray proudly served in the United States Navy for over 22 years, serving during the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired as a United States Navy Master Chief after a distinguished career of service.
Beyond his military service, Ray was an electrician, farmer, gardener, and small business owner. He owned Jarrell's Country Store on Russell Road in Green Cove Springs, Florida, and had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, history, and vintage automobiles, especially his beloved 1988 Chevy truck. He was also proud to be among the first property owners on Lake Asbury, Florida.
Ray was preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl Handy Phillips and his sister Geraldine (Jarrell) Ferrell. He is survived by his loving and devoted daughters; Carolyn Handy Miller, Colleen Sicina (Hal Utley), Catherine Jarrell and Kate Fairleigh; his sister Judith Lafferty Minton of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; his brother Harold Jarrell of Radcliff, Kentucky; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Honoring Ray’s wishes, no formal services will be held. He will be buried at sea by the United States Navy.
