Elizabeth Aileen Britton, age 81, passed away March 2, 2011. She was born in New Smyrna, Florida. She graduated from Florida State University in 1951 and was a teacher and coach for 32 years. Elizabeth was an avid FSU fan, loved dogs, wildlife, sports, outdoor activities, tailgating and camping. After retirement she played competitive tennis at Riverside Tennis Club. She was preceded in death by her father Travis Britton and mother Frances Elizabeth Strong. Survivors include long time friend Wilma Smyth and adopted family Elisa and Larry Geren, Cindy and Barry Cochran, Becky and Rex Chapman, and will be missed by many other friends. Funeral service will be held Monday, March 7, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, FL 32073 with Minister Jess McCrosky officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Jacksonville Memory Gardens, Orange Park, FL.
