Born in Jacksonville, Florida, he was a son of the late A.D. and Juanita Herndon Barnhart.
Over 40 years ago, he met his late wife Melody Moses Barnhart during the early stages of the development of the Argyle Forest area of Jacksonville. Fred was surveying in the area and Melody was operating a bulldozer.
Fred had various careers through the years. He was very proud of his four years, during the Vietnam War Era, in the U.S. Navy. He formed lifelong friendships with quite a few folks that he remained in contact with through all these years.
He will be missed by many family members, friends, very special neighbors.
His surviving family includes a son, Fred (Staci) Barnhart Jr., of Orange Park; his siblings, Gary (Mai) Barnhart of Jacksonville, Sandy (Ruby) Barnhart of Jacksonville, Michelle DeHaro of Oak Bluffs, MA; three grandsons, Randy (Mariah) Barnhart, Chris (Taylor) Barnhart, Aron Barnhart; and several nieces and nephews.
Fred’s family and friends will gather at Jacksonville National Cemetery (at a later date) for burial and remembrance with Military honors.
