James J. Buck

James J. Buck, beloved son, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, at the age of 58. Born on May 11, 1968, to Virgil W. Buck and Gabriele Drinck Buck, James leaves behind a legacy of service, strength, loyalty, and love that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

James proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army as a Track Vehicle Mechanic, dedicating himself to the mission and to the men and women with whom he served. A veteran of Operation Desert Storm, he carried the pride of his military service throughout his life. His commitment to his country was a defining part of who he was, and his service will always be remembered with honor and gratitude.

Beyond his military service, James was a loving father, devoted son, and caring brother. He cherished the time spent with his family and friends and found great enjoyment in the simple pleasures of life, especially playing golf and fishing. To those fortunate enough to call him a friend, James was genuine, loyal, and steadfast. He was a true friend to those who were close to him—a man whose presence could be counted on and whose absence will be deeply felt.

James is survived by his mother, Gabriele Drinck Buck; his son, Jonathan Buck; his brothers, Joe Buck (Lisa Buck) and Jason Buck (Kathryn Buck); and a host of loving family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceeded in death by his father Virgil W. Buck

James's life was marked by service to his country, love for his family, and friendship to those around him. Though he is gone from this world, the memories he created, the lives he touched, and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of family and friends forever.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218. All guests planning to attend the service should stage in procession lane 3 upon arrival.
