Janet Leigh Cardell, age 78, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on June 3, 2024. Janet was born in Spout Springs, North Carolina and lived in various parts of the United States prior to settling in Jacksonville, Florida for the past 40+ years.
Janet was loved by her community and had an amazing story to tell. She spent her childhood surrounded by her boisterous family, spent time performing as a country music singer, and worked jobs ranging from a seamstress to finding her footing in the tile and marble business. Despite her captivating life, she was a fantastic listener and a loyal ear to those around her. She spent the last decades of her life establishing herself in the Jacksonville community as a compassionate, intelligent, funny, and beloved friend, colleague, and family member. Above all, Janet prioritized her loved ones’ happiness. She adored holidays and birthdays, and always knew how to make anyone around her feel special.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Weaver (Edward Weaver), her father, J.D. Marks, her sister Terry Marks, and her sons Johnny Colmus and Charles Finney.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, Donald Cardell, her sister, Sandra Daniel, her daughter-in-law Christine Finney, her granddaughter Jessica Finney, and extensive extended family. She will be undoubtedly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of her company.
Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 13th, from 12:00 -4:00 pm at the Bar J Ranch at 4564B Crazy Horse Avenue, Middleburg, Florida 32068. Refreshments will be provided.
