

He was born May 13, 1935 to Mary Lee and Walter T. Van Brocklin, Jr. in Coral Gables, FL. He grew up in Jacksonville, graduating from Landon High School as an early graduate in the class of 1954. As a teenager, he then joined the U.S. Marine Corp and served for eight years including, 1954-1955, in Korea. On return, he attended the University of Florida until he had to return home to help with the family business, Van’s Furniture. John later attended the University of North Florida and obtained a Bachelor degree in Transportation from UNF. He was a member of the first graduating class at UNF.
John was a devoted husband and father and lived a blessed life, exemplifying integrity and Christian morals. He amassed many good and faithful friends along the way.
John was predeceased in death by his parents, his brother Walter T. Van Brocklin III and his granddaughter, Charity Van Brocklin. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Lee Van Brocklin, sons John Van Brocklin, Jr. (Georgie), Craig Van Brocklin (Tammi), Lane Van Brocklin (Kathy) and 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held September 16 at Grace Anglican Church, 5804 U.S. Highway 17, Fleming Island, FL. The service will be held at 11:00 am with viewing 30 minutes before the service. John will be laid to rest afterwards at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
