He was preceded in death by his parents, Zaida Barrios and Julio Ortiz.
Julio is survived by his wife of 54 years, Luz M. Aponte Ortiz. Daughters: Mirna Ortiz Cruz, (husband Roberto Cruz) and Dimarie Ocasio (husband Willie Ocasio). Sister, Nydia Ortiz Garcia (husband Miguel Garcia). Grandchildren: Rosaliz Cruz, Yasmin Cruz, Rob Cruz, Miguel Mercado and Jonathan Mercado.
Great-Grandchildren: Gio, Ayden, Isabella and Bengi.
