Madeline Louise Muffley, age 86, passed away on March 10, 2026, in Orange Park, Florida. She was born in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey. Madeline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was devoted to her family, leaving behind many cherished memories for those who knew and loved her.
Madeline met the love of her life on a blind date in 1956. It was love at first sight and through 68 years together, their love was as strong as it was the day they met. She embraced the life of a military spouse, often acting as both mother and father to their three children while her husband was away defending our country. Besides keeping the homefront running smoothly, she had a successful 15-year career in the federal workforce. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing bingo, and spending time at the beach and her happy place in the Georgia mountains. What meant the most to Madeline were her family, faith, friendships, and her dog Benji. Her favorite saying was always “Love you more.”. She will be missed every minute of every day, and her memory will live on to those who love her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents: Max Renaud and Betty Sensabaugh; her brothers, Auggie Renaud and Bill Renaud; and her cherished granddaughter, Alexa. Though they are gone before her, their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ernest Muffley Sr., her children: Terri Grau (Kurt), Ernest Muffley Jr. (Kitti), and Barry Muffley (Tammy). Her brothers: Max Renaud (Kathy) and Frank Renaud (Mary); Her grandchildren: April, Eric (Taralynn), Wendi (Alex), Kristen (Michael), Nicholas, Zach, Jessica, and Megan. Her great-grandchildren: Caleb, Julian, Paige, Wayne, Brandon, Melani, Dylan, Ayden, Evelyn, Riley, Kylie, Sawyer, and Ella; Her great-great-grandchildren: Paisley, Cooper, Tatum, and Jordan; and a host of extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be held on April 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Grace Episcopal Church, 245 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL.
