

Marvin Lee Wicker, born on March 23, 1933, in Springview, Nebraska to Lee Roy Wicker and Elsie May Wicker, went to be with our savior on April 16, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leslie George Wicker.
He is survived by his wife, Louise, two sisters, Sherry Richards of Denver, Colorado and Betty Fulsaas of Las Vegas, Nevada, a daughter, Karen Ruth Wicker of Jacksonville, two stepdaughters, Denise Keane of Orange Park and Michele Barranco (Joseph) of Tallahassee, Florida and a stepson Thomas P. McCrone (Dana) of Jacksonville, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marvin graduated from Keya Paha County High School in 1950 and received a Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1955. Following a short job in Akron, Ohio at a chemical plant, he was called to active duty with the U.S. Air Force in Fairbanks, Alaska. During this period, he was invited to visit Jacksonville which became his home in January 1959. He worked for the predecessor organization to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection during which he earned a Masters Degree in Sanitary Engineering. He worked with two local engineering companies, Reynolds , Smith and Hills, and Flood Engineers, before joining with a fellow engineer, Robert D. Connelly, to form Connelly & Wicker Inc. in 1983. He was a longtime resident of Jacksonville Beach before retiring in 2001.
He is a Past Master of Arlington Masonic Lodge No. 309 and a member of Scottish Rite and Shrine as well as various professional organizations. He is s communicant of Grace Episcopal Church of Orange Park.
The family expresses gratitude for the tender care giver by Baptist Health, Florida Oncology Associates and Haven Hospice.
Visitation will be Friday, April 20, 2012 from 6-8 pm in the Narthex at Grace Episcopal Church, 245 Kingsley Ave. Orange Park, FL. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the church with the Rev. Kurt Dunkle officiating. A private Masonic burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
