Raymond Boyd Driggers, Sr., passed away on Monday, September 30th at his home in Orange Park, Florida after several months of a valiant fight to overcome his illness. He was born on September 10, 1947 to Phillip S. Driggers, Sr and Florence Burbage Driggers in Summerville, SC. He is survived by his son Raymond Boyd Driggers, Jr of Bluffton, SC, brother Phillip S. Driggers (Janet) and sister Geri Laws all of Goose Creek, SC and numerous nieces and nephews, also his loving companion and best friend, Blanche Cribbs of Jacksonville. Predeceased by his father and his son Barry Preston Driggers. Mr. Driggers was retired from the US Dept of Defense at NAS Jax. He served his country in the US Air Force and was a Viet-Nam veteran. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lodge #5968 in Orange Park, the First Coast Shag Club and Florida Boppers Inc. and well known for his love of dance. His social circle is large and he was a loyal and faithful friend who will truly be missed and remembered with love. Family and friends will receive visitors on Wednesday, October 2, at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, FL 32073 from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 3, 2013, with Rev. Tim McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:00 PM with military honors. Reception will be held after the cemetery service at Club Savoy, 6354 Arlington Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211.
