He was born in Richmond, Virginia on May 17, 1952.
Robert aka “Gus” grew up in Richmond, graduated from Woodberry Forest School in 1970 where he played varsity soccer and tennis. He attended Flagler College.
Retired for ten years, Robert had worked as a stockbroker, in construction and in hospitality. An amusing raconteur, he was an avid reader and sports enthusiast. The Minnesota Twins have lost their most devoted fan.
Besides three sisters and their spouses, two nieces, and close cousins, he is survived by partner Deborah Bryant.
