

Roger Anthony Brown, Sr., 84, a longtime resident of Orange Park, Florida, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 13, 2023. Roger was born in Mobile, Alabama, on May 15, 1939. He married the love of his life, Betty Jean Cooper, on June 10, 1960.
Roger was a devoted husband, daddy, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He enjoyed old Western movies, classic country music, woodworking, and classic cars. He was most known for his cowboy hat, incredible sense of humor, and his joy and appreciation for life's simple things.
Roger's professional career started at Brookley Air Force Base, Mobile, Alabama, at Air Force Logistics Command (1961-1966). Roger transferred to Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, then NAS Cecil Field, Jacksonville, Florida, where he was a Senior Electronics Technician and Digital Specialist for the Naval Training Equipment Center (1966-1987). From 1987 to 1997, Roger worked at the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) as a Logistics Management Specialist/Hardware Engineer at NAS Cecil Field. Roger retired in 1997, but soon after that, he took a Senior Hardware Engineer position with Computer Science Corporation (CSC) at NAS Jacksonville.
We rejoice knowing Roger is in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. Roger was preceded in death by his father, Norman Francis Brown; mother, Tola Rodgers Brown; sister, Shirley Dillard; brother, Andrew Brown; and his wife of 54 years, Betty J. Brown. Roger is survived by his children, Roger A. Brown, Jr., Debra A. Suit (David), Laurie A. Brown, and Michael J. Brown (Colette) along with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A service celebrating Roger's life will be held graveside at Magnolia Cemetery, 1040 Kingsley Ave Orange Park, Florida, at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, September 17, 2023.
