Sandra Ailene Vandermiller

Sandra Ailene Vandermiller, 88, passed on September 20, 2026. Born April 23, 1938, Sandra was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Young) and James Morgan of Weatherly, Pennsylvania. She resided in Orange Park, Florida.

Before becoming a mother, Sandra lived with courage and curiosity as a world traveler and flight attendant—meeting life with a steady bravery and an open heart. In the years that followed, she devoted herself to home and family with quiet strength, a hard-working spirit, and a selfless attentiveness that made others feel cared for and seen.

Sandra found daily joy in simple, thoughtful rituals: tending her garden, watching the birds at her feeders, and spending unhurried time with a good book. In her younger years, she also enjoyed ice skating—an echo of the adventurousness that remained part of her throughout life. Alongside her wisdom and resilience, there was room for warmth and gentle humor, and for a generosity of spirit that made her deeply beloved and cherished.

Sandra is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Richard Vandermiller, Sr; children; Richard Vandermiller, Jr, (Casey) Christopher Benson (Melinda Nolting), Patrick Benson and Cheryl Robinson; grandchildren; Catherine Ohrt, Audrey Robinson, Kelsey Vandermiller, and Ryan Vandermiller; and one great grandchild Hayden Alan Ohrt.

A Committal Service will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218, US, on September 28, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm. (Lane 2) Chaplin Gilbert Monroe to officiate.
