October 28, 1965 – August 21, 2026
Shawn “Papa” Lang Williams, 60, of Orange Park, Florida, passed away on August 21, 2026. Born on October 28, 1965, in Mount Shasta, California, Shawn lived a life full of laughter, hard work, adventure, friendship, and—most of all—love for his family.
Shawn was the beloved son of Effie Williams and Dean Williams. He was a proud former United States Navy Seabee, serving from 1987 to 1997. Following his military service, he dedicated 25 years to the United States Postal Service as a carrier. He was hardworking, dependable, and always willing to lend a hand to someone who needed it.
To know Shawn was to know his energy, his humor, and his unmistakable personality. He was extremely funny, stubborn, energetic, protective, and truly the light of the room. He loved talking to everyone and had a way of making friends wherever he went. He would do whatever he could to help his family and friends, and he fiercely protected the people he loved.
Shawn had many passions. He loved his Harley-Davidsons, baseball, drag racing, music, traveling, the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed umpiring baseball and loved watching his daughters play softball as they grew up. He was also obsessed with bears, decorating his house with anything brown, loved building things, and especially enjoyed meeting and talking with fellow veterans.
Some of the most treasured memories of Shawn will live on in the moments he shared with his daughters. He and his daughter Taylor made memories together at the Gatornationals every year, and he shared unforgettable trips to softball tournaments with his daughter Brittany, where they would scream along to rock songs in the car. He also treasured attending a Boston Red Sox game with Taylor and his son-in-law, Keith. These moments may seem simple to some, but to his family, they are priceless memories that will last a lifetime.
Shawn was especially proud of his daughters and never hesitated to show them how much he loved them. His love for his family was one of the greatest parts of who he was. His grandchildren brought him immense joy, and the time he spent with them was something he treasured deeply. To his grandchildren, he was lovingly known as Papa—a name that will forever carry the warmth, laughter, and love he gave them.
He had a simple way of reminding the people he loved how he felt. With his usual upbeat attitude, Shawn would say, “Love ya!” Those words will forever carry the sound of his voice and the warmth of his heart.
Shawn is survived by his daughters, Brittany Williams and Morgan Taylor Williams; his grandchildren, Kyla, Bella, Lucien, and Ethan; and his son-in-law, Keith Tidwell. He will also be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, fellow veterans, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
He was preceded in death by Dean Williams and Effie Williams.
Shawn leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind laughter, stories, lessons, adventures, and a lifetime of love. His presence filled a room, and his absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled.
Until we meet again, Papa…
Love ya! ❤️
