Sherwood Wilson Krause, age 88, of Orange Park, Florida passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024. He was born in Claussville, PA to the late Raymond and Idella Krause. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served his country for 25 years and was recognized for distinguished service during the Korean and Vietnam War. After retiring from the military, Sherwood spent 16 years working for the United States Post Office as a carrier. He was a dedicated member of the Advent Lutheran Church for more than 50 years, as well as a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed traveling, bowling, and spending time with his family.
Sherwood is survived by his loving wife, Shirley D. Krause, with whom he would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on November 1, 2024. He is also survived by a sister, Roma McKelvey, two sons, Dean Krause and Gary Krause, as well as a daughter, Kim Krause. Additional surviving family includes a daughter-in-law, Tamara Krause, five grandchildren (Alex, Steven, Ryan, Gabrielle, and Cody) and two great-grandsons (Jaxson and Jalen).
Visitation for Sherwood will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Advent Lutheran Church, 2156 Loch Rane Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32073. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 11:00 AM. A private graveside service will occur Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32218.
