Shirley D. Krause, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025, after an extended and courageous battle with cancer. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and woman of faith, Shirley’s kindness, warmth, and quiet strength were the heart of her family and a blessing to all who knew her.
Shirley was a longtime resident of Orange Park and a faithful member of Advent Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Her dedication to her church and community reflected the values she lived by every day—compassion, service, and grace.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 66 years, Sherwood Krause, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Together, they raised three children: sons Dean Krause and Gary Krause, and a loving daughter, Kim Krause. Shirley was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to her life.
Shirley is also survived by her brother, Delano Schucker. She was preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Angstadt, and her brother, Willard Schucker.
In addition to her deep devotion to family and faith, Shirley had many passions. She was an avid traveler who loved exploring the world, a spirited bingo player, and a talented quilter who found joy in creativity and craftsmanship. Her garden was a source of beauty and pride, especially her lovingly tended African violets and plumerias.
Her legacy of love, resilience, and generosity will live on through her family and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Advent Lutheran Church in Orange Park, followed by a reception. Shirley will be laid to rest at The Jacksonville National Cemetery later that day.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Shirley’s memory to Advent Lutheran Church.
