She was born May 17, 1931 in Bulacan, Philippines, daughter of Teodoro Diaz and Felisa Arquisa Diaz. She’s the eldest of 8 children. 2 survivor; Mercedes Diaz Francisco and Marilou Diaz Santos.
Attended college at Far Eastern University for Pre-medicine, didn’t finish since her parents were not aware she’s in Med school but to become a teacher. Met her first husband Dominador Gumabao in Caloocan City, Philippines got married and 3 daughters – Evangeline, Evelyn, Cynthia Emelinda and 1 son Patrick. She then separated and raised her children by herself working as a dress maker. Immigrate to United States to better support her children. Live in Los Angeles California where she met Lawrence Florendo, a retired Naval Chef, married and adopted her children to immigrate here in United States. Sid was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Florendo April 2, 1986.
Sid met Frank Rubin through mutual friend and they hit it off, married and live in Las Vegas Nevada with his daughter Ruby and family. When he passed, she decided to travel and spent time with her 3 daughters; spent time in Long Beach California with Cynthia and family, Evangeline and husband Donald in Auburn Washington, then lastly with Evelyn and family in Fleming Island Florida. She live a good life doing what she love, out dancing with friends, visiting her grand-children, even volunteer to her grand- daughter Storm’s school. Easily like by others for her friendly smiles and willing to listen. She was a daughter’s best friend, good daughter and mother.
Survivors include 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren as follows; Evangeline and husband Donald Jefferson,(daughter) Jamie and husband Matt Best. Evelyn Gumabao, children: (son) Gerald and wife Melissa, (son) Dennis and children: Dennis Jr, Abigail, Keilani, (daughter) Jennifer and husband TJ children: Phoebe, Naiomi , (daughter) Storm Blanchard and her father Philip Blanchard. Cynthia and husband Joseph Espiritu, children: Hazel and husband Darwin Camagong and son Dezmond; Mathew and wife Sheyanne, and Mark Espiritu. Patrick Gumabao, children: Monica Rose, JR, Dylan, LL and Nina.
A memorial service for Sid will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Oakdale Memorial, 1401 South Grand Avenue, Glendora, CA 91740.
