Terry Lynn Dodd, 59, of Middleburg, Florida, went home to be with Jesus on October 16, 2021. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and Navy veteran who loved God, his family and his country with everything he had.
Terry was born on February 15, 1962, in Newton, Iowa, to Arlin Gene “Duesy” Dodd and Helen Elizabeth “Pinkie” Dodd. He attended East High School in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduating from high school, he went on to get an AS from Florida CC at Jacksonville and an AA and BS from Columbia College.
Terry joined the Marines in 1986. After 5 years, he transferred over to the Navy, where he served honorably for 20 years including being deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom and retired as a Petty Officer 1st Class.
Upon retiring from the Navy, Terry began working as an electrician for Georgia Pacific in Palatka, Florida. He worked for Georgia Pacific for 14 years, most recently serving as a journeyman electrician. His coworkers describe him as generous, dedicated, and humble and as someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
In his free time, Terry loved spending time outdoors hiking and was a major gun enthusiast. He loved taking motorcycle rides on his trike with his wife and his friends. He could fix anything that was broken, and he put this ability to good use to help his daughter and her husband renovate their home in Orlando.
Terry was a valued and beloved member of OakLeaf Baptist Church. He served faithfully as a deacon and was always willing to lend a helping hand any time volunteers were needed.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Arlin Gene “Duesy” Dodd and Helen Elizabeth “Pinkie” Dodd, and sister, Tami Jones. He is survived by his wife, Sheila, and his daughter, Ashley Tegg.
Services for Terry Dodd will be held at OakLeaf Baptist Church on Friday, October 22 with the viewing starting at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral being held at 11:00 a.m.
