Deana was being cared for by VITAS Hospice where Deana worked after college. After Hospice she worked as a Social Worker in Chicago and then in Florida. In Florida she met Gary. Their relationship blossomed into love and marriage. Theirs was and remains a great love.
Following her time as a social worker, Deana became a mental health therapist, continuing to spread her strong light of love. She also spread beauty with her love of gardening.
Deana’s greatest gift came from her saying, “As long as there is one burning candle there is no darkness.” To that Gary would respond, “YOU are that brightly burning candle.” Her light continues to spread through the hundreds of people she helped. That light will burn through eternity as one person she helped, helps another and that person helps a child and on and on her light will eradicate darkness. Deana and her light live on.
Deana is survived by husband Gary Morgan, parents; Paul and Christine Gozder, brother; Paul and wife Laurel who were “God Sent” during Deana’s final weeks, sister; Jennifer and husband Mike Grimm, sister; Kristin and husband Mike Norgaard and her life-long friend Joyce Ende.
