John J Possedi, Sr.

John was the beloved husband of Carol (née Malec) Possedi; loving father of John Possedi, Jr. and Denise “Dee” (Tony) Campos; and proud Papa of Gigi Campos. He was the cherished son of the late Roman and Eva (née Korosa) Possedi, and dear brother of the late Roman Possedi, Jr. and Rose Ceferin. He was also a fond cousin, uncle, and friend to many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Born and raised in Chicago, John was a proud classic car enthusiast whose passion for automobiles became a lifelong hobby and source of joy. He attended countless car shows throughout the years, earning numerous awards and trophies with his unforgettable classic car, “Rufus III.” John and Carol also enjoyed countless weekends polka dancing throughout the Chicagoland area, creating many treasured memories together.

John was known for his sharp wit, wonderful sense of humor, and endless collection of funny stories that could light up any room. More importantly, he will be remembered for his strength, generosity, loyalty, and unwavering integrity.

Above all, John was deeply devoted to his family and took great pride in the life he built and the people he loved. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, laughter, dedication, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Orland Funeral Home, 9900 W. 143rd Street, Orland Park, Illinois 60462. Funeral services will begin Friday, May 29th at 10:00AM from the funeral home, to St. Mary Catholic Church, 19515 115th Avenue, Mokena, Illinois, for an 11:00AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery.
