We always looked forward to Kirk & Keifer coming to Thibodaux Louisiana for a visit, we always had a good time, plenty of laughs, but most of all, getting together to go eat out or having a big crawfish or crab boil at our house, he was a good man, great family man he loved his family, he was a great friend to us, he was loved and will be missed by many, our thoughts and prayers to all his family and friends at this most difficult time, may he Rest In Peace, gone but will never be forgotten, All our love to all of you Mark & Glenda McDonald 🙏🏻

Dear Dad,

I wasn’t ready to say good bye. I felt that there were so many things left unsaid and so many loose ends not tidied, but that is life and why every moment I had with you was precious.

We most definitely had our rifts, even chasms, in our relationship; but that is what happens when you raise strong and resilient women. You taught us to think for ourselves, to be accountable, and to take pride in what we do. You gave me the gift to laugh at the most ridiculous (and at the most inappropriate) moments, to find the joy in the little things, to speak my mind even if it is uncomfortable.
My sisters and I have so many aspects of you within us.

Dad, I hope you find peace amongst the stars and laugh heartily while you travel through the galaxies.

So I end this letter by saying, this is not a goodbye but a see you later.

I love you dad,

Brittany Kristan Ward

Cherish each moment as if it were your last. I say this with a light heart.

I have lasting memories of Dad’s laughter as he watched his granddaughter race to and fro through a busy arcade, trying to keep up. Of him sharing a game of air hockey with her. And of the quieter moments, too. A shared conversation about nothing and everything all at the same time.

The July breeze will never feel quite the same.

We sat together in the garage, listening to the world around us: the birds, the hum of traffic in the distance, and one another as we waited for paratransit to arrive.

I’ll never forget the feeling of helping Dad onto that bus. I remember thinking, If this is it, if this is the last time I see you, I’m glad we had this moment.

I sat outside in the garage for a long while after he was gone. And I smiled, knowing that whatever happened after that moment, Dad would be okay.

I love you to the moon and back, Dad. Rest peacefully.
—
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Kirk Ward—the man I was blessed to love and call my husband for nearly 42 years.

Forty-two years is a long time to share a life with someone, yet somehow, it never feels like enough. I wish we had more time for more conversations, more laughter, more ordinary days together, and more memories to make.

You was not only my husband; you was my partner in life, my companion, and a part of who I am. Together, we built a life, faced the joys and challenges that came our way, and created memories I will carry with me forever.

After nearly 42 years together, there are so many little things I will miss—I will miss your presence, your voice, your smile, and the simple comfort of knowing you were there.

Our life together was not measured only by the big moments. It was shaped by all the ordinary moments that became special because we shared them. Those are the memories I will hold closest to my heart.

I am so grateful to God, that you was given to me as my husband and that I had the privilege of walking through life beside you for nearly 42 years.

Kirk, I hope you knew how deeply you were loved. I hope you knew how much you meant to me and how much of my heart you took with you.

Our life together may have come to an end, but my love for you has not. I will carry you with me in every memory, and every day I have left.

Thank you for nearly 42 years of love, companionship, memories, and a life together that I will forever treasure.

I love you, Kirk. I always have, and I always will.

Rest peacefully, Sweetheart.
                Your wife, Keifer
