To Mary, Michelle, Frank & Michael- A tribute to to my cousin, Michael-- A great dad, husband, friend --& in my family, the cousin-elder of more than twenty first-cousins. Mike was the go-to cousin who often served as a conduit between "the kids" and "the adults -(i.e. gram)" for many early formative years for all of us.
Michael was the first guy who was unwillingly tasked with teaching me,(and many of his cousins) how to fish, (or, in some cases, "Feed the Fishies".)
In the basement of his parents house on West 85th Street where he grew up, Michael was also the one who first taught me how to shoot pool before the age of 10, while at the same time instructing me in the finer points of which Jimi Hendrix Experience album was the best, and how best to annoy his siblings, Carolyn & Jimmy.
These are life skills which I am happy to say have stuck with me so many years later.
Michael's influence and generous spirit on me is palpable, as I know it is on you in so many ways which I can't even imagine. Mike was a patient, gentle and quiet soul and we are all missing him now.
Much love to you all.
