

A proud patriot, Ronald served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1959, during which time he was part of the underwater demolition team stationed in Coronado, CA. In his youth, he was also a boyscout. Ronald dedicated 33 years to his career at Commonwealth Edison (Excelon) as an Operations Engineer and retired at the young age of 55.
Ronald was devoted to serving his community and was a volunteer fireman in Western Springs for over 10 years. He was a member of the Masonic Order of Western Springs and the Zelzah Shriners in Las Vegas. As a member of Zelzah Shrine, he loved driving patients from Las Vegas to the Los Angeles Shriners Hospital for treatments. He also served as a peace officer and in the mini bike organization.
He raised his family in Western Springs, IL, before relocating to Las Vegas, and eventually returned to Illinois. In later years, he spent his winter months in Bradenton, FL. Ronald attended All Saints Lutheran Church in Orland Park, where he loved his church friends and pastor, Don Borling.
Known for his outgoing personality, Ronald was a friend to all strangers and loved to make conversation with everyone he met.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Boldt Rueckheim, and his sister, Doris Ruth Mathieson. Ronald was a loving father and survived by his four children: Lisa Ann (Bass), Susan Jean (Kalis), Jill Elizabeth (Kunkel), and Ronald Richard. He was also a proud grandfather to 9 and great grandfather to 14. He is also survived by Pat’s 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church in Orland Park, IL on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00am immediatly follow by refreshments in the church hall. All are welcome.
