July 12, 1955September 3, 2019

William “Billy” Stanton Jr. passed away suddenly on September 3, 2019. Loving son of the late William and the late LaVerne (Hennessy) Stanton; Beloved brother of Deborah (the late T. Mark) Poulos, Michael, the late Patricia (late Robert) Hansen, Diane (Charles) McKeown, James, and LaVerne (Rick) Lathus; Adored uncle of Nicole Himmelman, Mark (Jamie) Poulos, Richard, Ryan, and Randy Lathus, James, Matthew, and Kiersten Hansen; Cherished great-uncle to Maeve Himmelman and Gavin Poulos; Dear nephew to many, especially John Stanton Sr.; Billy will be missed by his cousin and friends. Billy was an electrician by trade working many years with his father. After his parents died, Billy took on the caretaker role of his two brothers. He was a volunteer Firefighter in Wickliffe, Kentucky. In 2004, while answering a call, Billy’s firetruck was in a serious crash. He was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he spent almost 2 months being treated. Billy never fully recovered. He came back to Illinois with his brothers, where his family could help. He loved spending time with his brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews. He especially loved the family Christmas parties. He always had a kind heart and a smile on his face. He will remain in our hearts forever. Visitation for Billy will be on Sunday, September 8th, from 12 – 4 PM where a prayer service will take place at 4 PM to conclude services. These services will be held at Orland Funeral Home, 9900 West 143rd Street, Orland Park, Illinois 60462. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association National Office, 161 North Clark, Suite 3550, Chicago, Illinois 60601, and would be greatly appreciated.

Many years have passed since our time together at Koontz Lake, IN.
I can remember building the home, and taking the Pontoon Boat out on the lake. Billy was always eager to go fishing and caught many cat fish.
He will be missed by all of us.
