Dr. Charles William George passed away March 23, 2024 at the age of 91. He was born on January 14, 1933 to William and Connie Mary George and was raised in the tiny town of Steele MO. He graduated from Steele High School in 1950 and was president of his senior class. He went to college at the University of Missouri and received his Bachelor of Arts degree pursuing a Pre-Medical curriculum.

He attended Medical School at the University of Tennessee in Memphis and received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1958. During Charlie’s last year in medical school, he met his wife of 65 years, Ellen Jarboe. They were married on New Year’s Eve in 1958. He entered the United States Air Force Medical Corps as a Captain and served as a Flight Surgeon for 3 years at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Goldsboro, NC.

Charlie pursued a residency in Radiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. and became Board Certified in Radiology in 1966. He moved with his family to Orlando, FL where they have lived for 58 years. He started his practice in Radiology with, what soon became, Drs. Curry, Harding, George and Eliscu, P.A., later named Medical Center Radiology Group (MCRG). He practiced Radiology for 28 years at Orange Memorial Hospital and Holiday Hospital which then merged into Orlando Regional Medical Center and later Orlando Health. His special interest in Radiology was Breast Imaging. Dr. George was the Chief of Mammography and the President and CEO of his group for 18 years until he retired in 1994.

Charlie is predeceased by his parents and his brothers Thomas George and Joseph George. His is survived by his family of 16. His wife Ellen; daughters Lisa George Ramsby (Gregory) and Laura George; son, Richard William George, M.D. (Mary). Charlie has 7 grandchildren; William Ramsby (Heather), Bailey Ramsby, Macy Ramsby, Kelly George, Ashley George, Reed Wolter and Pierce Wolter. He has 2 great grandchildren, Riggs Ramsby and Woods Ramsby.

Charlie enjoyed sailing, fly fishing, hunting, photography, traveling and grammar. He loved tennis and played at the Country Club of Orlando where he was a member for 55 years. Charlie loved life, the holidays and his family more than anything else. He was always kind and gentle to all. He was wise, present and helpful. His family will gather graveside in May and afterwards, celebrate his life at his home on Lake Conway. Charlie left his love letter to his family through all his photographs he displayed “On the Wall”. We loved him dearly!
