Clarence H Wood (aka Hank, Woody), age 85, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, May 14, 2018 after a brief illness with his family at his side. He was born in Sidney Center, NY on March 23, 1933 to Clarence Gerald and Ruth Finch Wood. After graduating from Sidney High School in 1951 he married the love of his life Doris Dow on June 29, 1952. He was soon drafted into the US Army and served his country in the Korean War. Upon returning from his service duty in 1955 he returned to Scintilla Magneto Company/Amphenol Aerospace until his retirement in 1987. He was a “jack of all trades” and could build, fix or repair anything. He was active in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sidney Volunteer Emergency Squad, VFW and led the VFW Post 4287 Military Honor Guard for many years. His love and compassion for all people was evident in everyone he met. Throughout their marriage, Hank and Doris welcomed three beautiful daughters who were his pride and joy. Each time spent in the company of his family gave him great pleasure and happiness. After spending most of his life in the Upstate New York area, he relocated to Orlando, FL where he has lived since 1992.
In addition to his wife, Doris he is survived by his daughters, Cindi (Don) McIlvenna, Pam (Ken) Barton and Debbie (John) Donohue, grandchildren, Heidi Williams, Joe McIlvenna, Heather Barton, Lucas Barton and Adam Barton and several great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brother Donald Wood, sisters Anita Gregory and Rosemary Wood.
A funeral mass will be conducted on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Good Shepard Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Interment with military honors immediately following at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Orlando, FL.
