

Cynthia Lorraine Downing, the daughter of the late Robert and Arlene Downing, was born on December 21, 1951 in the Bronx, New York. She attended public schools in the Bronx and graduated from James Monroe High School. After graduation Cynthia, also called Lorraine by family and childhood friends went to work for Bankers’ Trust Company for twenty years and then retired. In order to prepare for her next career move, Cynthia decided to attend cosmetology school to become a beautician. After several years of working as a beautician and as an office temporary, Cynthia left New York City to start a new life in Orlando, Florida in November 2003.
Cynthia was employed as a Retail Associate for several Department Stores at the Florida Mall in Orlando for the past six years.
Cynthia loved the Lord and was very strong in her faith. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church which is located in Kissimmee, Florida. Cynthia had a passion for dining out, wearing designer merchandise, and shopping. Her favorite color was purple. She was very good at entertainment trivia. Cynthia was fun-loving and enjoyed being around her family. She would look out for the family and often checked in on them to make sure they were all right. Cynthia would send “good morning” text messages to start the day. She remembered birthdays by making phone calls and sending text messages.
Cynthia departed this life on Sunday, December 7, 2014. She leaves to cherish the memories: four sisters; Angela, Juliet, Barbara and Adrienne; Her sister Dawn preceded her in death; nieces: Denise, Nancy, Brenda, Vanessa, Tiffany, Caressa , Cherise and Jessica; nephew: Christian; great nieces: Ketura, Corinne, Brooke, Minyara; great nephews: Terrence, Joshua, Andre, Uche, M’Kai , Josiah, Anthony, Zion and Achilles; great great niece: Cheyenne; great great nephew: Terrence Jr. and Avery and several other family members and friends.
