She was born in Ashburn, Georgia on December 2, 1931 to the late Pearl Beasley and Pink Wheeler.
Faye lovingly served her family as a housewife and mother, raising 6 children in a military family. She also took great pride in serving her community as a school crossing guard for four years during the 70’s. She loved to cook, especially southern foods, and enjoyed trading recipes. She loved to travel, possibly inspired by her husband’s early years in the Air Force when the family moved frequently, to places including Massachusetts, Alaska, and Texas. Faye, along with her brothers Albert, Bob and Tack and their spouses, often took off in their motor home and spent months travelling across the United States visiting relatives and seeing the sights. She is best remembered by her grandchildren for her “Nannyisms” such as “I’m going to take you down a peg or two”, “You’re going to freeze into a Billy goat”, or “I’ll jerk a knot in your tail”.
We will all cherish her memory forever.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, E.G. Henderson; as well as 3 of her children—daughter, Dianne Harting, and twin sons, Donnie and Ronnie Henderson; and her grandson, Chris Cooper. In addition, Faye was the baby of six siblings: Bob Wheeler, Johnny Wheeler, Tack Wheeler, Estelle Nettles, and Albert Wheeler, all of whom predeceased her.
She is survived by her three daughters, Penny Moore, Barbara Henderson, and Susan Bowen (David Bowen); six grandchildren, Tonya Rader, Angela Henderson, Carla Beltran, Jessica Wright, David Bowen Jr., and Ivan Bryson; ten great grandchildren, Ciara Commander, Carissa Martin, Samantha Santana, Jacquelyn Commander, Austin Martin, Vanessa Beltran, Alexandria Santana, Enrique Santana, Colin Wright, and Logan Bowen; and seven great-great grandchildren, Jeremiah Vasquez, Josiah Vasquez, Liam Martin, Janessa Vasquez, Jonah Vasquez, Wesley Hernandez and Brea Commander.
