

Elaine was born in Canton, Ohio, September 3, 1926, to the late Margaret and Thomas Kalamaras and raised in South Bend, Indiana. She was predeceased by her sister, Georgetta Fadden of Statesville, North Carolina and her youngest son, Thomas Nicholas Prassas of Glendale, Arizona.
After graduating from high school in 1944, Elaine attended Indiana University in Bloomington where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. In 1949, she married Nicholas Prassas and moved to Wilmette, Illinois, where they had three children; George Ronald, Linda and Thomas. She delighted in eleven grandchildren: Ron and Joan (Seibert) had Kelly, Pilar, Lauren and Ronnie Prassas; Thomas and Dianne (Ferguson) had Ryan, Danny and Kristina Elaine Prassas, and Linda had Nicholas Newell, Kimberly and Jill Crawford and Timothy Fulton. Elaine, Nicholas and their children developed devoted relationships with the Prassas brothers and sisters, resulting seven first cousins, which to this day remain steadfast and strong.
Elaine enjoyed a full life filled with devotion to family, learning, faith and a love for music, art and nature. Elaine developed passions for bridge, golf, tennis, skeet shooting and swimming. She experienced an adventurous life of world travel and explored sixty-two countries with her second husband, Lee Chipman, whom she married on January 7, 1976. Together they were devoted grandparents who enriched the lives of their grandchildren leaving behind a worthwhile legacy. In 2010 Elaine and her daughter Linda moved to Celebration, Florida to share a home together. Elaine enjoyed attending educational life-long learning classes offered through the Celebration Foundation. In Florida, Elaine remained steadfast in her relationship with her sister Georgetta’s family of Jim, Art, Susie, Pam and Becky.
The family will conduct a memorial service at Community Presbyterian Church at 511 Celebration Ave, Celebration, Florida on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 3:00 PM.
