At the tender age of 19, Mr. Stinson enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country for 20 years of active duty, stationed in different countries such as Japan, Germany, Philippines, Guam and many others. He retired from active duty in Altus, Oklahoma and then relocated to Orlando, Florida. After his retirement, Mr. Stinson served his country for another 20 years, this time as a civilian with the United States Navy. Mr. Stinson reconnected with the foundations of his youth and began attending Zion Temple Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God of the Americas. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. It was there that he later became a Deacon, and served as an Adult Bible School Teacher, spreading the Gospel of Christ to every person he met. Deacon Stinson lived his life for Christ, and continued serving the Lord as Deacon, Adult Bible School Teacher, and many other ministries at Feed Jesus Sheep Church until he was called home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters – Ms. Wilma Stinson and Ms. Arlena Stinson Mason, and brother – Mr. Arthur Lee Stinson. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Sarah Stinson; one daughter, Phyllis Stinson Thomas, Orlando, FL; two brothers, Grover Lee Stinson (Lucinda), Charlotte, North Carolina; Robert Lee Stinson (Betty), Charlotte, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Mishell Thomas-King (Aleah), Tampa, FL; Nahshon Thomas, Orlando, FL; one great grandchild, Jacob Thomas, Orlando, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and friends who loved him and will miss him.
