Ernest Lloyd Bush

Ernest Lloyd Bush was born on Sunday, May 10, 1931, in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, the youngest child of James Merry and Irene Eva Bush. His oldest brother and sister were Wesley Vivyan and Muriel Bernice, both deceased. He attended Lakeview Elementary through high school, in what was then called the village of St. Clair Shores.

After graduation, he worked for a year at Chrysler to save money for college and then went on to attend Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas, where he met the love of his life. His sister had gone there before him, and she and her friends had picked out some potential girlfriends for him. However, he had a mind of his own and chose Martha Belle Woody whom he later married. Lloyd transferred to Michigan State University for his junior year and he and Martha married that March, 1954. In July, Lloyd was drafted into the United States Army. He spent a year and a half in Karlsruhe, Germany where Martha joined him. After being discharged, he went back to Harding, now University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Chemistry. He worked for the US Food and Drug Administration from 1959 until he retired in 1995. Lloyd was the father of four daughters, Barbara Lois Fry (Mike), Shirley Claire Bagherzadeh (Ahmad), Merri Irene Cunningham, and Andrea Leslie Hopper Dozier. Both Merri and Andrea preceded him in death.

He is also survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Martha, 10 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 3 great granddaughters, and 1 great grandson.

Lloyd had lived in Orlando for 50 years where he and his family were members of the Pine Castle Church of Christ. Lloyd was an elder there for some 40 years. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, family, and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Pine Castle Church of Christ, 21 W. Lancaster Road, Orlando, Florida 32809 followed by a celebration of life service at 3 pm.
