Estel Ray Edwards

EDWARDS, ESTEL RAY, 93, left home for Heaven on December 10, 2012. Born in Firecol, West Virginia, on January 10, 1919, he was the son of the late Harden and Stella Canterbury Edwards. Mr. Edwards lived most of his life in West Virginia, moving to Florida in 1997. After failing health, he retired from construction work. An Army veteran of WWII, he served in the Pacific 586 Quartermasters Special Troops 42nd Infantry Division. He was a kind and gentle man, and was loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. Mr. Edwards leaves behind his wife of 61 years Bertha; daughter Barbara Perry (Ernie) of Charlotte, NC; grandsons Evan and Ian Perry; three sisters Alice Boring and Stella Falvo (Tony) of Princeton, WV and Betty Ellison of True, WV; and multiple nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13 at 11 a.m. at Conway United Methodist Church, 3401 S. Conway Rd., Orlando 32812. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park , Gotha. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to VITAS Hospice.
