Gloria Esther Acevedo

Gloria Esther Acevedo was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on June 16, 1938, and married the love of her life, Juan Acevedo, on February 4, 1956. Theirs was a love that never wavered — Juan was her partner in every sense, and the two were always together, doing everything for each other and with each other for seven decades. Gloria began her career as a paraprofessional before going on to become a bilingual English teacher at the Joan of Arc junior Highschool School, in New York City, shaping the minds and lives of generations of students with patience and care. She was known for her honesty and fairness, values she carried into every classroom and instilled in her family through her everyday life.Gloria took special joy in decorating, especially for Christmas, when she would build charming Christmas villages that filled her home with warmth and wonder each holiday season. Her talents extended well beyond the tree—she crocheted and sewed outfits for her children and grandchildren, and even made her own tablecloths and curtains, taking pride in every design she brought to life. Nothing, though, meant more to her than being a mother and grandmother.

Gloria had three children, Johnny Acevedo, Danny Acevedo, and Susie Acevedo-Aracena.

Gloria is predeceased her husband Juan Acevedo, and her beloved son Johnny “John” Acevedo.

She is survived by her children Danny Acevedo and Susie Acevedo-Aracena, 11 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Now she is reunited with her husband and son as angels, watching over us.

A Funeral Service will take place at Family Funeral Care, 13001 South John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32837, US, on July 31, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Cremation Gardens, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734, US, on July 31, 2026, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
