Gloria Babich, 95, of Orlando, Florida, died on Saturday, July 18, 2026, peacefully at home. Gloria was born in Mexico, Maine, on August 31, 1930, the daughter of Lawrence and Blanche Doyle. She was one of five children, predeceased by her siblings Doris, Gladys, Dottie, and Larry.
Gloria and her family moved to Elizabeth, New Jersey, at a young age. She enjoyed roller skating at Twin City Arena, singing in local choirs, and babysitting. In Junior High School, she met the love of her life. Nicholas Babich.
In 1951, Gloria and Nicholas were married. They resided in Elizabeth, then moved to Middlesex, New Jersey while Nicholas worked for the Singer Company. During this time, Gloria and Nicholas had their four children, Gregory, Tammy, Donna, and Glenn.
In 1966, Gloria and her family moved to Amherst, New Hampshire. In 1972, they moved to Narragansett, Rhode Island, where Gloria truly loved living by the ocean. While Nicholas was working for Leesona Corporation, Gloria was the general contractor for building their beautiful dream house on Narragansett Bay. Nearly every morning during the summer, she would wake up at sunrise with her camera to capture the inspiring view. Her shining light and loving spirit blessed our family. Gloria always had a song in her heart and encouraged us to enjoy music in our lives.
In 1995, after Nicholas retired, they bought a second home in Orlando, Florida. Gloria loved going to Disney World almost daily enjoying its beauty, music and atmosphere, especially seeing the Voices of Liberty. She loved having her children and grandchildren go there with her. For many years, Gloria and Nicholas lived in Orlando in the winters and Rhode Island in the summers, before settling year-round in Orlando several years ago.
Gloria’s primary focus was always on Nicholas and her family, always putting their needs ahead of her own. One of the true joys of her life was spending time with her family, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Gloria was predeceased by her husband of 75 years, Nicholas, and her daughter Donna. Gloria is survived by her children Gregory, Tamara and Glenn. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Shannon, Natalie, Megan, Nicole, Kelly, Christopher and Kevin, and one great grandson Ryan.
A private family celebration of life will be held later this year.
