Gloria Marie Nowlen, 89, returned to her heavenly home on March 18, 2016 after a valiant battle with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Her devotion to her family and firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Gloria was born to the late Vincent and Rose Interval, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 22, 1927. Gloria was gifted with a beautiful voice and shared her talent through singing performances in the early 1940s on radio station KDKA and countless choirs. She was immersed in selfless service for over 40 years through her beloved parish of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Additional stewardship ministries included teaching CCD, Altar Guild, Minister of the Sick, Cantor, Women's Council, RCIA, Eucharistic Minister, and Homebound Outreach. She also crocheted blankets for hospital and nursing home patients. She worked for Orange County Public Schools at Lancaster Elementary for 15 years as a permanent substitute teacher. Gloria was blessed with a large and loving family. She raised her four children with patience, discipline and humility. From the very beginning, She dedicated her children to God. She taught them to love and serve the Lord and to treat others with dignity and respect. Through every stage of life, she was their mentor, guide, cheerleader, and comforter. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small or complex. She always had her coffee pot on, a warm treat baking, and a listening ear to all who were blessed to enter her home. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.
