RIP Uncle Sam.  Miss u a lot.  My prayers are with you Aunt Jean and cousins. The Lord will continue to give you strength and fortitude to cope with this loss

I am deeply saddened at the passing of our dear uncle.  Uncle Sam was a jovial and hospitable person. He enjoyed talking about past events, including how life was in his early years.

Recently, while he was in the hospital, we chatted on the phone.  Uncle Sam enjoyed talking and that day we chatted for about 2 hours.  He spoke highly of his family.  He told me that his wife had been very good to him; “she is a good woman.”  All of his children were his delight. “I love my family and want to live a little longer to be with them.”  Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to live as long as we wanted, but he was able to spend his last days with his family, as he desired.  

He enjoyed playing with his nieces and nephews when they were young. He had a lot of fun with them and even enjoyed teasing them, including me.  He told me that when I was very small, he asked me to spell “John’s Hall.” I boldly spelled aloud “P. O. G. -  John’s Hall.”  He asked me to spell it again, and I proudly spelled it again, “P. O. G. - John’s Hall.”  He laughed and he laughed and rolled on the floor at this; this was very amusing to him.  It was something he never forgot, as each time he saw me or talked to me on the phone, he would ask me to spell John’s Hall.  

He was a man who also loved nicknames.  My nickname was “Saday.”  Apparently, when I was small, I couldn’t say “yesterday,” but instead said “Saday.”  That name has stuck ever since.  

I will cherish these memories of Uncle Sam, and he will always remain in my heart.

Thank you for being a great brother-in-law and taken great care of my sister. I will miss you and your stories. I wish I had more time I could spend with you, time that went too fast for me. The Legacy you left, the Father you were, and the husband you are, will go on forever. You set the bar high for our family and showed us what being a true man is. Thank you for setting a great example, Thank you for showing us what real love looks like,  most of all Thank you for being “YOU!”


First I must say my sincere condolences to aunt Jean and family.  Uncle Sam as he was affectionately known to me and all his niece's and nephews. Uncle Sam migrated to the states while I  was very young so I did not have a lot of memories of him growing up, but during my teenage years  he would returned  to visit when possible.  He would  always bring little goodies which was well appreciated, the first black and white TV my mom ever own was given by uncle Sam, he used to send things for my mother with farm workers when they were coming back home to Jamaica. I can also  remember ever listening to him giving valuable family history as he has a memory of an elephant. Uncle Sam loved his family, and in his later years we could see this as he use to make regular trips to visit his sisters and brothers in Jamaica.  Uncle Sam sometimes speak firmly but as I found when my mother was ill back in 2015 he came to spend sometime with her and he cried every time he visited her and that showed me that he had a soft spot inside of him.
I will always remember him as a jovial person who likes to have a good conversation and also likes to share his knowledge and past experiences with us the younger ones, he was always willing to help whenever possible and that was appreciated, he will be surely 
missed by family and friends.  Sleep in peace Uncle Sam and may your soul find eternal peace. 

I met Mr. Dowe when I worked in South Bay in 2008. I would occasionally visit with him and have very enjoyable conversations. Even after I stopped working in South Bay we continued our friendship. He will be missed. Condolences go out to his wife Cecelia and the rest of his family, from my family and I. Rest in peace Mr. Dowe.

First of all let me pay my respect to Sams family.. To his wife and all is kids starting with Verona.. I don’t know them by name but accept my  condolences to all of you.. God love you all we are Gods kids and we will meet again on the other side..
Sam is a first cousin of mine his dad is my uncle..I have known him since birth.. He is one of the most humblest of  man I ever had the pleasure of knowing.. He gave all of us nicknames. Think of seven brothers he had a name for all of us..
He had this gregarious  smile..
 He his very gracious  .Sorry to see him go,but life does not end there.. Gods willing we will meet on the side of Jordan..
Accept my deepest sympathy from my  family and myself.. We are Gods children and we must prepare to meet him .. with love  snd peace...


I so thank Mr. Harold Dowe for his contribution toward the family life of my sister (Cecilia)and his children.  With the help of my sister the children always felt loved and secure.  Along with the above, he will be missed for his sense of humor. I leave with the family my favorite Bible passage found at Jeremiah 29: 11,12. With all respect as you mourn please know God missed Sam too because he watched him every day throughout his life. Thankfully God has the power and desire to resurrect as said at Job 14:14, 15.
My heart felt love goes out to all of you.

I will always remember Mr. Dowe! 
On one particular occasion my husband and I went to pay the family a visit in South Bay, Mr. Dowe went with us to a Carribbean store.

My husband was driving over the speed limit, Mr. Dowe would keep touching him on his shoulder and would say (slow down).
Even now whenever my husband starts to speed I would ask him do you want me to call Mr. Dowe?

Jovial loving Uncle Sam was always ready with  words of advice said in a kind and loving way.  He was fun to be around so I looked forward to his anual visits when he was single and even more so when Aunt Jean and 3 little cousins (Ann, Tony and Diane) came into his life. It was fun to have them around.  
Uncle Sam lived a full life. He once said  to me "I have a good life. My wife, Jean, is the best thing that ever happened to me. All that I have achieved, is all due to her. I'm proud of all my children and grandchildren."
Rest in peace uncle Sam. 

Mr. Dowe was not only my Uncle but a man that every single time he was in a room he commanded attention, respect, and laughter. I remember his daughter Cynthia's wedding. He almost objected to the wedding! Lol 😆 He loved Harold but he was a character. I'll always remember how me made me laugh and always gave me a wise word. Love you always Uncle.
