Her father moved them to Panama City, FL in 1932 when he accepted a job on the Railroad. They were a happy family and they enjoyed what little they had in those days. She grew up with two brothers and one sister. She was the last member of her family living. She graduated from Bay County High School. Her first job was working in the drug store soda fountain. Later a small dress shop then a dry goods and hat shop, which was her last job in Panama City. Her Husband worked for Tyndall Air Force Base for 37 years. She applied and was told to go to Orlando, FL the next week for an interview. She did and was hired. Gary Lawton hired her for her first job. The new journey began in 1971 as a housekeeper at the Contemporary Hotel. She was trained about two weeks and then transferred to the new Townhouses as a Lead. They began hiring Housekeepers and she was promoted to Supervisor in 1973. Eventually her responsibilities included the Convention Center at the Townhouses and the Townhouses, Tree Houses, Golf Course Homes, Bay Hill Homes and the Ocean front homes in Melbourne. Thankfully, she had the help of Assistant Supervisors and many Housekeepers in order to meet the needs and serve the guests.
