He was born in a farmhouse in Cashton, Wisconsin on May 18, 1928, to Lorinda Meisner Bohnert and Roland (Pat) Bohnert.
He graduated from Cashton High School in 1946 and attended college at several locations around the United States and overseas. He also completed two years of courses related to maintenance and repair of missile defense systems.
He was married to Pauline Ricketson on June 3, 1950, for 67 years until her death in 2018.
While serving his country, he enjoyed many challenging and interesting assignments in the United States, Koreas, Germany and Japan. He was a representative for the Army Logistics Command at the Martin Marietta Missile Manufacturing Facility in Orlando, Florida. He served as a missile system maintenance advisor to the Japanese Air Force and was also a missile system supervisor at the missile firing range at Fort Bliss, Texas.
After a 27-year career in the Army he retired and pursued a career with the Orange County School System as Facility and Security Manager at Mid Florida Technical Institute.
He is survived by his daughters Beverly Bohnert, Deborah Forbes and granddaughter Jessica Purkey, sisters Avadell Downing, Marlene McElroy, brother Dale Bohnert and many nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at a later date.
