James was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 12, 1951. He dedicated his life to public service, retiring as a paramedic with the Chicago Fire Department. He also served as Chief for the Merrionette Park Fire Department in Illinois. A proud veteran, James served in the United States Army and most recently worked with M.A.S.E.
On April 17, 2018, he married the love of his life, Paula McSweeney. James was passionate about helping others and was an active member of the Axemen Motorcycle Club, 1st Chapter. He loved mentoring others, especially those in the fire service, and sharing the hard-earned wisdom he gained throughout his career. He also found peace and joy in riding his motorcycle, calling it his version of therapy.
James is survived by his children: James (Sasha), Alison (Trevor), and Ryan (Britni); his grandchildren: Colin, Cameron, Jack, Gavin, Sara, and Shaun; and countless nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his brothers, Robert (Phyllis) and Kevin (Linda).
Per James' wishes, no funeral or wake will be held. He wanted to be remembered simply by "being alive" in the memories of those who knew and loved him.
