Jean Marie Moletteire (nee - Hession) died peacefully on May 5, 2023, in Orlando, FL. Jean was born in Wilmington, DE on June 12, 1931. She attended and graduated from Christ Our King Catholic School in Wilmington in 1943. Jean was awarded an academic scholarship to attend Ursuline Academy in Wilmington and graduated at the top of her class in 1949. Jean went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the College of Mount Saint Vincent in New York in 1953. She worked and taught pediatric nursing while pursuing her master’s degree in nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. On September 22, 1956, Jean married her husband of 66 years, Frank Moletteire, in Wilmington at Christ Our King Catholic Church. Following their wedding, Jean and Frank started a family and continued to reside in Wilmington. They later relocated to Owego, NY, and then Oakland, NJ, before settling in Orlando in 1970. Jean gave birth to 7 children whom she loved dearly: Robert (Maria), Joseph, Patricia (Mark Farragher), Thomas, Mary, Richard, and Paul (Vicki). Once all her children were enrolled in school, Jean resumed her career and calling as a nurse. After working for 17 years, she retired in 1987. In her youth, Jean learned to play the piano establishing her love for performing music. This love was passed on to her children as each one performed in the school choir and/or band. However, Jean’s love for reading was her primary passion. It was common for her to read multiple books within one week’s time. Her love for reading was on display in the library she maintained in the family living room. The family library held many of the books she enjoyed reading throughout her life and were made available for her children to read. Jean always felt there was nothing like holding a book in her hands, although in recent years she began to take advantage of digital books. Jean was an avid crossword and jigsaw puzzle enthusiast. Jean enjoyed entertaining others at home and was always up for planning/hosting a festive gathering with family and friends. Several of her favorite recipes have been passed on to her children. Jean loved to travel and insisted that the family go on summer vacation every year. After she and Frank retired, they traveled to Ireland, Italy, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and took a cross country journey around the United States. Jean developed an interest in genealogy to learn more about her family’s history. She had been active with the League of Women Voters for several years. After moving to Orlando Lutheran Towers in 2005, she maintained the resident library and was one of the founders of The Downtowners - a musical performance group of residents that performed throughout the Central Florida area. Jean was a woman of faith and the most significant legacy she leaves her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren is her unwavering love for her family. She loved her family as Christ loved her - unconditionally. During adverse times of family, neighbors and friends, Jean drew closer to them to offer her love, support, and comfort.
