He was married to Lillian Collazo on September 20, 1969. He served in the US Army and was employed by Puerto Rico Telephone Company, having been with them for 33 years. Jose was a Minister of the Eucharist at Holy Cross Church, in Orlando, and his hobbies included traveling in Puerto Rico and Florida, family gatherings, collecting antiques, playing pool in house, attending classical and contemporary music plays, and playing the guitar and saxophone.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Collazo, his children Randall Maldonado Collazo, Bryan Maldonado Collazo, his sister Diana Maldonado Molina and by his grandchildren, Nadia, Landon, and Kiara.
