OBITUARY

José Rodríguez

September 9, 1934November 5, 2020

Jose Rodriguez, 86, of Orlando, Florida passed away on November 5, 2020. He was born on September 9, 1934 in Santurce, Puerto Rico to the late Candida Velez and Jose L. Rodriguez. He met his beloved wife, Isabel, while visiting a friend in Brooklyn, and upon making each other's acquaintance, talked the whole day away. They have been married for 64 years with a beautiful family, and Isabel's eyes still shine when she talks about him. Jose was their Renaissance Man -- there was nothing he didn't want to learn or try, and when he did, he insisted upon precision and excellence! He rose to the position of Sales Manager with Prudential Financial, and even created the First Federal Credit Union for Transfiguration Catholic Church in Brooklyn, New York. His garden bloomed with the talent and commitment of his hands, and he deeply appreciated the beauty in nature & art. When he brought craftsmen into his home to do a job, they ended up learning from Jose, using his beautiful tools, and having lunch together! Jose gave generously all around him, and when he spoke truth in a teaching moment, he did so as a gentleman. His family can never say enough about him and will cherish the memories they made together forever. He is survived by his adoring wife, Isabel; sons, Heriberto, Robert & his wife Lyn, Jose & his wife Carolyn. 6 Grandchildren: Ryan, Brandon, Brianna, Irina, Sean, Cole. & 6 Great Grandchildren

I know about losing your spouse and best friend. My heart breaks for you Isabel. I have enjoyed being your neighbor for 27 years you both always were the nicest people to call friends. I know Jose is no longer in pain. He is with the Lord and my sweet husband will welcome him. Words fail expressing my sorrow. I am here for you if you ever need me. Stay strong my friend.
Love,
Lorraine O’Dowd

Isabel and family, Our family is keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers. Jose was an amazing person and we will miss seeing him working on his beautiful yard. He was the first neighbor that I met when we moved to our neighborhood here in Hunter’s Creek.. I had some wonderful conversation and always learned so much from him. We all Sal, Sal , Alexandra and I will have him forever in our hearts. 🙏🏼❤️ Rest In Peace my beautiful friend.

Love you Grandpa, going to miss you lots - especially your wisdom and your silly jokes. Life ends in the blink of an eye and suddenly the past feels so truncated, but I'm glad to know you're now at peace. We will all take care of Grandma Isa xoxoxo

My Father-in-Law often inspired me to be the best person I could be. I will never forget his beautiful smile. You just wanted to sit and be around him and talk the night away. He was especially good at telling jokes. He taught me how to grow a beautiful garden and to share it with everyone that comes to visit. This coming spring I will be planting Dalias in his memory. Dalias are beautiful flowering plants with large blooms and come in a variety of radiant colors. It is said they symbolize dignity, elegance and a commitment to family. "Love you Dad, please rest in peace."
