

Lena Blanche Landry, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away on July 10, 2024, at the age of 97. She was born on Aug. 17, 1926, the daughter of the late Majorique and Helen (Hachey) Landry in Berlin, New Hampshire. She married the love of her life, her late husband, Kenneth W. Moriarty on Sep. 6, 1946. They traveled the world together and had many adventures throughout their 65 years of marriage. Before her retirement, she worked as a bank manager in Groton, CT. She was active in her community and a long-time volunteer at Give Kids the World and Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe, both in Florida. She received a presidential certificate in honor of her volunteering for over 300,000 hours. She was also a long-time member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Orlando, FL. One of her passions in life was to bake, you would never leave her house hungry. She also loved to knit and made many lovely blankets, scarves, and decorations over the decades.
Lena is survived by her two sons, David Moriarty (Denise) and Ken Moriarty (Jane). She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Kate Morgan (Jen), Rhenel Shelley (Ryan), Ryan Moriarty, Adam Moriarty (Alicia), Eric Moriarty (Ashley), Karl Petrick (Sasha), and Karen Podurgiel (Joe). She was also the great-grandmother of Kaia, Bella, Demetrius, Caroline, and Lauren. She was predeceased by her son Ray Moriarty (Patricia) and daughter Ella (John). She was also predeceased by her six brothers: Alfred, Leon, Wilfred, George, and Raymond. Lena is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was a shining example of love, integrity, and living life to the fullest. Her strength lives on in all of us. In the words of her son David, “Don't be sad the journey is over, yet be so grateful that it began.” We were all so blessed to have her in our lives. We all take comfort in knowing that she lived an amazingly long life and is now in her heavenly home with her savior, husband, son, daughter, and all other loved ones.
A family service celebrating Lena’s life will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday July 16, 2024 at Family Funeral Care Funeral Home 13001 S. John Young Pkwy. Orlando, Florida 32837. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, July 17th, 2024 at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Orlando, FL.
