Lena E. Nieminen

Lena E. Nieminen, long-time resident of Orlando, died on August 7, 2015. She was 94. Lena was born on May 20, 1921 in New Rochelle, NY to the late Antonio and Maria Blanco. She attended New Rochelle High School. She was married to the late Lt. Col. Niilo Nieminen (retired USAF) in 1950. She is survived by her brother Father John P. Blanco, her two children, Deborah L. Nagel (Bruce Bode), Michael A. Nieminen (Barbara), and her four grandchildren, Neil Nagel, Lauren Nagel, Kurt Nieminen and Nick Nieminen. She is predeceased by her three brothers Frank Blanco, Michael Blanco, and Louis Blanco. Lena was a devoted wife and mother who also served as an executive administrator for many years in the Orange County Department of Social Services. She was active in numerous civic associations and had many dear and loving friends locally and in New York. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Visiting Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 5pm-6pm (family) and 6pm-8pm (friends) at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 5800 Hansel Avenue, Orlando, FL 32809. Funeral Mass will held Wednesday, August 12, at 10:30am at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 4545 Anderson Road, Orlando, FL 32812. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. A reception at Lena’s home will be held after interment.
